Board of Directors


Jo is a management consultant and director and holds several governance roles including the Board of Enterprise Great Lake Taupo and Trustee for the King Country Electric Power Trust. Jo joined Reefton Distilling Co. as Chair in April 2019, her background spans a broad range of organisations including accommodation, design, and the charitable sector.

Previous roles include President of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, Deputy Chair Consumer NZ, GM Corporate for NZ Trade and Enterprise, Cancer Society CEO, head of the Commerce Act Division of the Commerce Commission and Commissioner with Insurance and Financial service’s Ombudsman.

Jo has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business and Administration.


A chartered member of the Institute of Directors, Carl holds a Bachelor of Chemical and Materials Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.

Carl has sixteen years’ experience in the alcoholic beverages industry, both nationally and internationally, having held senior commercial roles with DB Breweries, Lion Nathan and Heineken joint venture businesses in New Zealand, Asia and Australia. This includes five years as Managing Director of the Heineken-Lion Joint Venture in Australia.

Carl's particular strengths are in brand and channel development, distributor and customer management, and logistics optimisation in both domestic and international markets. 


Ngaio is Portfolio and Investment Manager of Lewis Holdings, managing Sir David Levene’s investment portfolio, working closely with start-up companies.

An experienced Director, Ngaio has a special interest in the unique governance needs of early stage companies and the support of the Founder and Management team.  Ngaio is passionate about encouraging personal growth and a firm believer that the greatest skill any-one can have is in asking the right questions, rather than having the right answers.

Ngaio has been at Reefton Distilling Co.’s side from the initial concept of creating a distillery in Reefton. 


A professional company director and international strategic marketing and business development expert, Martin has more than 25 years’ experience in the consumer goods sector, including 19 years with leading global personal care company L’Oréal.

Martin’s international senior executive roles with L’Oréal included NZ Country Manager and Zone Director for Asia Pacific, MEA and Western Europe.  Martin was also a member of one of L’Oréal’s Global Divisional Management Committees.

A commerce graduate of the University of Auckland and the University of Michigan USA Advanced School of Management, Martin is a Member of the NZ Institute of Directors.
